Integrative, Transpersonal Therapy
Integrative, transpersonal therapy is a complete and holistic approach to talking therapy that brings together mind, body and spiritual aspects that importantly contribute to our psychological health and well-being. When out of sync these elements can dampen the sensation of joy and pleasure in our lives and can prevent us from moving forwards in alignment and towards our fullest potential.
Over the course of our lifetime there can be a tendency to block or shun difficult experiences. This has an accumulative effect on the mind, body and soul – worsening the more we supress and look away. Later on we can develop chronic stress in both body and mind, anxiety, depression, addiction, or generally feelings of despondency and anger creep in.
These conditions and difficulties don’t arise because there is something wrong with us, but because at some point we have left parts of ourselves behind in the broader pursual of life – quietly telling ourselves that world-making and goal acquisition rein superior to subtle human needs. We let our well-being and inner peace slide.
Choosing to begin therapy is the first step towards the renewal of yourself. The therapy itself is facilitated through approaches; talking therapy, guided visualisations, somatic (body) techniques, meditations to regulate and creative methods such as sand-tray and the use of themed card decks. These tools ensure we are working with all of you not just the cognitive mind, but also the deeper and more unconscious parts that hold the most power and latent potential of you.
Why do we choose this pathway for therapy?
Eastern traditions and modern day transpersonal psychotherapy practices know there is wisdom and true resilience to be gained from examining our inner lives. I have seen this process unfold many times and its capacity for transformation through our struggles is extraordinary. Ancient mystics called this alchemy – metaphorically speaking, the art of turning lead (ones difficulties) into gold (insight, awareness that unlocks potential). Today in our modern world we refer to this as neuroscience , trauma therapy, coaching and more broadly self-development work.
Therapeutic Coaching
Therapeutic coaching incorporates the above but with a specific goal in mind. It aims to get beneath the drive and understand the unconscious push that fuels its stagnancy and reluctance to action.
My approach to therapeutic coaching is practical and yet draws on the skills and experience I have as a therapist making therapeutic coaching a great solution for people who want to work short-term and in a focussed way.
